Comprehensive Eye Exams
On average, we recommend scheduling an appointment every two years to ensure your eyes are healthy. Often, vision or eye problems develop with no sudden symptoms. If you have been diagnosed with an eye condition, your doctor may recommend that you are seen more frequently. During your appointment, we will review your patient history, visual acuity, perform preliminary tests, and evaluate your eyes’ overall health.
Our offices utilize ultra-wide field imaging to view the retina in greater detail and help with the early detection of diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal tears or bleeding. Even in healthy eyes, retinal imaging is important as it allows us to track changes in your eyes over time.
Standard & Specialty Contact Lenses
People who wear contact lenses report feeling better about their physical appearance and ability to engage in sports and recreational activities compared to those who wear glasses. If you are interested in contact lenses, please let our office know prior to your appointment. During your exam, your doctor will discuss the various contact lenses available and determine the best option based on your individual needs and lifestyle.
Contact lenses can be custom fitted for patients who have trouble with standard disposable lenses due to complex eye shapes, diseases (e.g. keratoconus), surgeries, or injuries. Vision problems caused by an irregularly shaped cornea will typically experience sharper vision with gas permeable contact lenses, whether small (standard) or large (scleral).
Dry Eye Treatment
Do you experience eye irritation, scratchiness, blurred vision, or eye fatigue? Have you noticed a burning sensation, tearing, or discomfort in windy or dry conditions? If so, you may have tried various eye drops, medications, or supplements to ease the symptoms of dry eye. Many treatments only mask the symptoms and do not offer much long-term relief.
Dry eye is a progressive condition and should be closely monitored. There may be minimal symptoms in the early stages but, if left untreated, dry eye syndrome becomes harder to manage. Colorado Eye Gallery is proud to offer advanced dry eye assessments and treatments for our patients.
Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) Exams
Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is an immunosuppressive medication commonly used to treat of chronic conditions such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. This medication can result in irreversible and untreatable damage to the retina (retinopathy) in a small percentage of patients. Baseline testing is recommended to identify any pre-existing retinal conditions when starting this medication. If there are high-risk factors, annual screening is recommended from the initial start date of HCQ use, otherwise testing should be repeated annually after 5 years of medication use.
Our offices are equipped with optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus auto-fluorescence (FAF) testing which allow us to detect retinopathy before it is visible by standard retina exams. HCQ exams also include visual field testing, a dilated exam of the retina, and a faxed exam report to your rheumatologist.
Ocular Disease
We evaluate and treat patients with allergies, infections, injuries, dry eye, diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, keratoconus, and other eye abnormalities.
Neurolens
Even small eye misalignments can cause a variety of uncomfortable symptoms. The number of people with symptoms continues to grow as remote work and learning become more common. This increasing near visual demand increases the load on the focusing and eye alignment mechanisms. The good news? You can find relief with Neurolens.
Eyewear
Our opticians have a great deal of experience helping patients find the best frames for them – taking into account budget, prescription needs, lifestyle, fit, and appearance. We strive to carry a wide selection of styles, shapes, and materials.
